Welcome back to another post in Baby Steps to Blogging! Today, I want to get started on growing your blog and increasing blog traffic. I have several strategies to do this and I’ll cover one social media outlet (and SEO) each week. Now, for most bloggers that I know Pinterest is their biggest social media referral. But for me? It just so happens to be Facebook. So here’s how I use Facebook to grow my blog.
I’ve talked before about how building a social media presence is important and I’ve also questioned whether or not blogging groups on Facebook are really worth it. So why am I just now talking about Facebook and how I use it for blog growth?
Well, for me, it was a matter of fine tuning my own strategy until I finally figured out what was working.
Part of it is through social sharing threads in groups such as Awesome Bloggers and Sharing For Bloggers. I find that there are advantages to each group, which I’ll cover now:
* Awesome Bloggers is one of the largest Facebook blogging groups that I belong to. At times it can be very overwhelming but the admins are great at staying on top of things and keeping that many members in check. The variety of sharing threads and the opportunities for sharing are tremendous. And while I don’t participate in quite as many threads as I used to, having a social share thread is nice.
* Sharing For Bloggers is a smaller group but I love it dearly and it’s become a favorite group of mine to use as far as social share threads.
Other social sharing groups that I participate in are niche specific, such as a mommy blog or homeschooling blog.
So that’s part of my Facebook strategy. It’s not very time consuming and I do see results.
The other part of my Facebook strategy is to participate in share days. I find the majority of these share days through the Kid Blogger Network and I try to remember to participate in these daily.
If you aren’t a member of the Kid Blogger Network, Blogging on the Side shares a list of pages that have share days.
The important thing for me to remember with share days is which posts I’ve shared to which Facebook page. So far I’ve been pretty good at staying on top of that.
So those are two ways I use Facebook to grow my blog and increase my blog traffic. Next week, I’ll delve into Pinterest and I’ll also talk about Twitter, Google+ and misc. social media networks.
